Join the social club for New Zealanders living in the New York City area

The Kiwi Club of New York, Inc. is a social club for New Zealanders living in the New York City area. The club has been around since the 1980′s and became an incorporated non-profit in 1994. The club is financially independent and is supported by a nominal membership subscription. It is run by a board of unpaid volunteers, who are all young Kiwi professionals living in or near NYC.

Anyone who is a New Zealander or just likes meeting New Zealanders is welcome to join. Gatherings include free open monthly drinks nights, a Kiwi-style summer barbecue, an annual Christmas party, and various other events throughout the year. Members range from single professionals to young families to long established expatriate residents. Membership options provide discounts to all ticketed events and occasionally special offers (e.g. cheap legs of fresh NZ lamb!). Visit the website for more details:

Services at the New Zealand Consulate General

Staff at the New Zealand Consulate General in New York can help New Zealanders in the New York and Tri-State areas in several ways, but there are some limitations.  Please visit http://www.safetravel.govt.nz/services/services.shtml to see how we can help.

For office hours and location, visit the Embassy website www.nzembassy.com/usa or call ahead of time: 212-832-4038.  For services such as notarising a document, appointments need to be made in advance.

Obtaining Appropriate NZ Passport Photos in New York City

If you have tried to obtain photos in the US for NZ passport applications you may have noticed that the requirements are different to what is often provided at many photo printing facilities. SOHO Photos, located at 768 3rd Ave (between 47th and 48th Streets), can issue NZ passport photos to DIA requirements (45mm/height x 35mm width, with plain, light coloured background – not white or dark) and they will offer 10% off for New Zealand passport photos. Contact 212-753-4671 or info@sohophotony.com.
